The Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to conduct Brahmotsavam at the Vontimitta Kodanda Rama Swamy temple in Kadapa on par with that of Bhadrachalam in Telangana.

The endowment secretary JSV Prasad today visited the temple and inspected the arrangements needed for conducting the Brahmotsavam during Dasara and also later on Ramanavami Day. Both the endowment and the tourism department will coordinate efforts to make it a bhakti circuit by linking it to other temples in the region.

Vontimitta Kodanda Rama Swamy temple is constructed with some 32 pillars on an elevated platform and is also also known as Madhya Ranga Mandapam. Annamacharya, the great devotee of Lord Sri Rama, is related to this temple and Tallapaka is also closer to Vomtimella (27 kms). It is also said that the idol of Lord Sri Rama has been established by Lord Jambuvantha, a prince of Apes.

The archaeological survey of India has notified this temple as an Ancient monument and the idols in the sanctum of Lord Sri Rama, Lakshmana and Goddess Sita engraved from one rock. We can see the idol of Vigneshwara in a dancing posture at the main mandapam designed by the Vijayanagar rulers.
