At the GMR guest house, Rs.five lakh worth diamond set belonging to Kanigiri MLA Kadiri Babu Rao was allegedly stolen this morning. The MLA has complained that the theft occurred in the early hours.


Police say that criminals may have lifted the ornaments from the window in the guest house.


Tirumala has become notorious for thefts in its guest houses and cottages and it is in fitness of things that it has five police stations in the hill shrine to tackle the law and order and crime menace.


Thefts and missing children have become a common feature in pilgrim town of Tirupati and Hill shrine of Tirumala. In view of daily foot fall of over lakh people to the temple town, there has been alarming increase in anti social activities like flesh trade, thefts, gambling dens in the south corner premier town of AP which has rail, air and road connectivity to every nook and coroner of the country.
