The Centre should give a hand holding treatment to Andhra Pradesh to successfully emerge out of the present predicament of financial crisis after the bifurcation of state till a level playing field is achieved, says Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Blaming the 14th finance commission of outdated economic indicators the chief minister said the report only addressed the revenue deficit of Rs 22,000 crore. Addressing a media conference in his Kuppam constituency on Wednesday, he said even the special reference made by the President of India to the Commission to take care of the immediate needs of the residuary state was not considered.

He also faulted the panel for considering 2011 population and 7.5 per cent green cover (both of which have changed now), which further led to a marginal fall in fund allocation.
