In a major boost to the handloom industry, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to declare every Saturday as Handlooms Day.
The Government employees and also private employees in the state were advised to wear handmade cotton to their work place. Announcing this today, state minister Kollu Ravindra said the Government had waived off weavers loan arrears of Rs. 200 crore.
We will set up a handloom shop at each District headquarters and also put the APCO handloom products from the state on the Flipkart and the Amazaon networks.
