Repairs to Kovvur bridge
The two judge PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sen Gupta and Justice P V Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday granted one week time to the State government to file its report on what action is being taken for maintenance and preservation of the bridge between West Godavari and East Godavari districts.
Court gives 7 days to AP govt to file status report
The two judge PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sen Gupta and Justice P V Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday granted one week time to the State government to file its report on what action is being taken for maintenance and preservation of the bridge between West Godavari and East Godavari districts. The bench made the order in a writ plea filed by Bar Association, Kovvur, West Godavari complaining of large scale damage to the famous Road-cum-rail bridge over the river Godavari .
It is complained that the bridge was constructed thirty years ago and the same bridge was not maintained properly by the authorities concerned. It was also prayed that the bridge was repaired at a cost of Rs 3 crores but within one and half months the bridge came to the old stage,. Whilst directing the Respondent to file the report the Bench observed that the Respondent grossly failed to file the report and comply with its earlier order made on March 2. The Bench further directed personal presence of the Respondent next week to explain the reason for non-compliance.
