Hyderabad: The Telugu New Year - Manmadhanama Samvatsaram – proved to be a day of great joy for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his brother-in-law actor-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna as both of them have become grandfathers on the auspicious day.

When the news of Brahmani, wife of his son Lokesh, delivering a baby boy at a private hospital in Hyderabad came in, Naidu was busy celebrating Ugadi at Thulluru where the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh is to come up. Naidu took a special flight from Vijayawada around 2.45 pm and rushed to Hyderabad after the celebrations. A proud grandfather, Chandrababu Naidu, talking to media, said, “Both the mother and son are doing well. We wish a happy Ugadi to all Telugu people.”

Asked if he considered that a Manmadha was born on the first day of Manmadhanama Samvatsaram, Naidu smiled and said, “He is just born. Don’t come up with his horoscope.” Replying to another question if he would have felt happier if it was a girl child, both Naidu and Balakrishna said for them both boy and girl were equal. “A baby is always welcome,” they said.
