Family members of the missing Mountaineer Malli Mastan Babu have urged the state and union governments to rescue the ace mountaineer belonging to Andhra Pradesh.
The 40 year old mountaineer belongs to Gandhi Jana Sangham village of Nellore district is trapped on the Andes ranges and his family wants the govt to use its diplomatic links in Argentina and Chile to press aerial survey of the Andes ranges.
Speaking to media at her house, Malli’s sister Ms Dorasanamma has said that she has forwarded information regarding her brother to the Union minister of Parliamentary affairs M. Venkaiah Naidu who also belongs to Nellore district. “The Union minister has assured all possible help and we hope and pray that Malli will come back and will take more expeditions,” Dorasanamma said. Many of Malli Mastan Babu’s friends and well wishers in the village have organized prayers on Sunday for his safe return.
She said that her brother, who had climbed the Seven Summits in 172 days, has gone missing during a solo expedition in the Andes. “The present expedition began on 24th March. He spoke to me before he went missing and said that he will be finishing his task by clearing Cerro Tres Cruces,” she said. Malli who was trying to climb the range along the Argentina-Chile border from the base camp of Cerro Tres Cruces failed to reach the base camp on 25 March.
Malli Mastan Babu was born in an agriculture family and attended Sainik School at Korukunda, where he came in contact with army mountaineers. He was inspired by Lt MUB Rao of the Indian Army Expedition team who lost their lives in an avalanche while trying to scale Mt Everest.
He graduated in Electrical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur (1992-1996). Then he pursued his Masters of Technology degree from IIT Kharagpur (1996-1998). After working Satyam Computer Services Ltd for three years he did MBA degree from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (2002-2004).
