Kadapa: The budget session of the Nellore Municipal Corporation was held amid pandemonium here on Tuesday with Congress party corporator Anam Rangamayur Reddy raising an objection over the method of collecting taxes.
He alleged that taxes were being forcibly collected from the people putting them to lot of hardships and demanded a reply from the officials and the Mayor. However, Mayor Abdul Azeez refused to give any reply and said that the taxes were being collected by following proper guidelines. Rangamayur Reddy, who was furious, alleged that the officials of the municipal corporation were behaving like the staff of private finance companies and harassing the people of Nellore.
The Congress corporator lamented that the people of the city would lose their self-esteem and self-confidence if the officials behaved in this manner. He alleged that the state budget was like juggling of numbers and the Mayor was only fudging facts and figures. Later, Rangamayur Reddy staged a walkout.
