Visakhapatnam: District Collector N Yuvraj asked the officials of Simhachalam temple and local administration to make all arrangements for the convenience of devotees attending the annual Chandanotsavam at Simhachalam on April 20. In a review meeting here on Monday, the Collector said emergency medical services, drinking water supply and other facilities should be provided to the people who would be attending in large numbers from the neighbouring States and districts.

Around 2 lakh people are expected to attend the festival, the Collector said. Simhachalam Devasthanam Executive Officer K Ramachandra Mohan said Chandanotsavam would be held at 2 am on April 21 and the gates would be opened for free darshan from the early hours beginning 3 am. Special arrangements are being made for the VIPs who would be attending the festival as well as for the darshan the following day, the officer told the Collector.

The EO said the VIPs would be charged Rs 500, Rs 200 and Rs 1,000 for passes and four entry points were being arranged for free darshan. The RTC will deploy 38 buses from different parts of the districts for the convenience of the devotees. Free food would be given to over 20,000 devotees on the occasion, the EO said.
