AP plans to double power generation
To meet the increased power demand from domestic and industrial sectors and ensure the success of Power For All (PFA)- ‘24x7 power supply scheme’ in 2015-16 , the AP government has drawn up a big plan to double the installed capacity of power generation from the present 4500 MW in one year. Under the plan, the government has also targeted to transform AP into an ‘incandescent light bulb’ free state by next March.
Hyderabad: To meet the increased power demand from domestic and industrial sectors and ensure the success of Power For All (PFA)- ‘24x7 power supply scheme’ in 2015-16 , the AP government has drawn up a big plan to double the installed capacity of power generation from the present 4500 MW in one year. Under the plan, the government has also targeted to transform AP into an ‘incandescent light bulb’ free state by next March.
Addressing the press after a meeting held with the private partners who bid for the establishment of wind and solar power projects, state Energy Secretary Ajay Jain said 4000 MW of power would added to the present installed capacity from the new thermal, wind and solar projects. Krishnapatnam and Hinduja thermal plants having the total installed capacity of 2700 MW would be commissioned very soon.
Under renewable energy promotion, wind power generation plant with 1000 MW capacity and solar plant with 300 MW capacity would be established. Since industrial promotion has been given top priority, government decided to provide required power to the industries by clearing all pending applications for power connection s within 21 days, the official said.
Stating that all the left five lakh households would be provided electricity facility under Deen Dayal Upadhya Gram Jyothi Yojana this year at the cost of Rs 330 crore , the official said the energy infrastructure would be developed in Krishna, Guntur, Chittoor, Vizianagaram, Visakhpatnam and Eluru .
Under the Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation (EE and EC) programme, the distribution of LED bulbs would be supplied in all districts replacing the incandescent bulbs in the domestic sector. Street lights would also be equipped with LEDs to conserve energy. Under EC and EE programme, the Power Finance Corporation agreed to provide 6700 solar pump sets to farmers. Jain claimed the APGENCO achieved 80.5 per cent of PLF (Plant Load Factor) as against 75 per cent last year. On the instructions of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, this year, the Genco set 85 per cent target.
