Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed the police and district officials to be on high alert following encounter deaths of 20 red sandalwood smugglers in Seshachalam hill ranges near Tirupati.


He convened a high-level meeting today with ministers and officials and directed the officials concerned to provide immediate medical care to the injured. He also sought post mortem of the dead smugglers and hand over bodies too their kin.


He also directed DGP J.V Ramudu to publish the photographs of the deceased in order to get in touch with their families and also establish their identities with the red sander wood smuggling cartel. The Chief Minister also reviewed the existing patrolling measures by the forest department to curb the smuggling of red sandalwood from the state.
