Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh Roads Development Corporation (APRDC) has been asked to develop roads connecting all industrial clusters in the State. Stating this at a review meeting on Thursday, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the roads connecting industrial clusters were being developed under the ‘Industrial Corridor Development Programme (ICDP).’ Keeping in line with the government’s proposal to make the State as an industrial hub, he asked officials to take up the Nellore-Tirupati-Chennai industrial cluster works on a priority basis.

He directed the APRDC to hire an agency which will prepare a detailed report on how good roads can save time, energy, fuel and health of people. This report, he said, should be publicised widely. The Chief Minister instructed the officials that Visakhapatnam-Bheemunipatnam road should be completed within next 10 months and be ready before February 2016 as the Indian Navy would host the international fleet review n Visakhapatnam in the same time.

The Chief Minister asked the department to explore options to connect hill areas to beaches and take measures to arrest sea erosion. As of now, the department has identified 76 important roads in the State and will start working on them immediately. The Chief Minister said that the World Bank would provide financial assistance of Rs50,000 crore to the Government of India for roads.

He directed officials to ensure that Andhra Pradesh was included in the scheme. Naidu further suggested that driving skills of those applying for licences be tested and ensured that the number of accidents was brought down. He also stressed to set up driving centres and test the skills of those driving vehicles.
