True story of Red sanders encounter in Chennai Editions

The Chennai edition of Eenadu, quoting a coolie saying that the Seshachalam encounter of red sanders alleged smugglers was a fake. It says that the coolies were taken into custody in Nagari and killed point blank in Tirupati forests.

The coolie said that he along with seven others offered to work as wood cutters for the contractors when they were hired in Sheshachalam forests. “I came in the next bus as their bus was overcrowded. But their bus was stopped at Nagari itself and taken away in a police van. Later I heard they were killed in an alleged encounter,” the coolie quoted in the paper.

The aftermath of the encounter is well known and the state police and government have been reprimanded by supreme court and NHRC.
