According to police, the girl, Sk Kausara, was attacked by nearly 10 stray dogs while she was going to meet her mother in nearby fields. The dogs bit her on legs, stomach, head and face. The profusely bleeding victim was rushed to hospital, where she succumbed to dog bites.

Guntur: A pack of stray dogs mauled a six-year-old girl to death at Kakumanu village, about 10 km from here on Wednesday. According to police, the girl, Sk Kausara, was attacked by nearly 10 stray dogs while she was going to meet her mother in nearby fields. The dogs bit her on legs, stomach, head and face. The profusely bleeding victim was rushed to hospital, where she succumbed to dog bites.

Furious with the death of girl, a large number of villagers staged a dharna on Guntur-Kakumanu road along with the body. Top police and revenue officials rushed to the village to pacify the agitating villagers. Several vehicles were stranded on either side of the road following road blockade.

Kakumanu village, where the incident took place, falls under Prathipadu Assembly constituency which is represented by Social Welfare minister Ravela Kishore Babu. Speaking to media persons, village sarpanch Madhusudhana Rao said that he had brought a dogcatcher team from Mangalagiri a few months ago. The villagers complained that similar incident took place a few months ago, but the victim was rescued from pack of dogs.
