Similar to the NHRC move, the Hyderabad high court too directed the Andhra Pradesh government to conduct a high level judicial inquiry into the Seshachalam encounter of red sander coolies.


The court found fault with the state government for not questioning any suspects and arresting any smuggler allegedly involved in the indiscriminate smuggling of the banned red sanders wood.


The court brushed aside the state government contention that it has set up a special magisterial probe. Most of the complainants were not cooperating with the investigations. Posting the case for next Tuesday, the court also rejected the petitioners' demand for a CBI probe.
