AP's fitting reply to Telangana: Slaps entry tax for Vehicles entry

In a tit for tat move, the Andhra Pradesh Government commenced collection of entry tax for vehicles coming from Telangana beginning Friday night.

All commercial vehicles, lorries, private buses have to pay entry tax at the Garikapadu check post in Krishna district hence forth, says a spokesman from the transport department.

The Telangana Government had slapped the entry tax for motor vehicles early this month causing a public uproar by AP government as a violation of the spirit of AP reorganisation Act that Hyderabad was joint capital for 10 years.

But the courts had dismissed Andhra Pradesh and other petitioners' contention and upheld the right of the Telangana government to impose entry tax.
