It is now revealed that majority of women who are murdered in north coastal Andhra districts are due to suspicion of illicit affairs.


Police records in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Vishakapatnam suggest that majority of murders among upper caste and Dalit families could be attributed to illicit relationship, jealousy and fear of losing their love are on the rise and women are the victims in majority of the cases.


This is not the case only with Uttarandhra and is a major problem across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. While the ratio is highest in North Andhra districts (about 80%) while other parts of AP and Telangana it is said to be around 60-70 %, say police sources.


These cases are higher in urban areas where the relationships between wife and husband are deteriorating due the busy lifestyles and both going in their own way culminating in suspicion causing marital disturbance. Hence, to take revenge or to get rid of the spouse, one partner decides to eliminate the other. According to the records, extra marital affairs remained one of the major reasons in at least 45 to 55 murders in every 100 murders that take place in a year.


Often these problems remain confidential between the couple but take the shape of violence as a last resort. However, Police due to technology apps and disclosures in obscene manner have foiled efforts of rapprochement.
