Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P Narayana on Tuesday claimed that the vested interests were trying to scuttle the smooth functioning of the Land Pooling Scheme (LPS). Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, the Minister said “unnecessary fears are being created in the minds of farmers who came forward to give their lands for building the new capital.”

An aerial view of capital regionHe said the 9.2 form was submitted by the farmers in accordance with the CRDA Act. But vested interests had created fuss over the issue. The Deputy Collectors had sent the form 9.2 to “the Authority” as per the act. The Authority as per the act meant the CRDA Authority headed by the Chief Minister would take a decision on such objections, if any raised by landowners.

For this committee there was no time frame given for the disposal of the objections raised under form 9.2 as per the act. And, after considering the objections raised, the committee headed by the Chief Minister would take a decision and send the same to the Deputy Collectors and in within 15 days the Deputy Collectors would have to convey the same to those who raised the objections, he added.

But, those trying to scuttle the process had been campaigning by misrepresenting the rules of the CRDA Act mentioned under Rule 7, and creating fears among the farmers, the Minister clarified. He said that out of 33,000 acres given by the farmers under the LPS, so far agreements were made in case of 12,000 acres and by end of May agreements would be completed for 25,000 to 30,000 acre. In case of those who still refused to part with their lands under LPS, the government would invoke Land Acquisition Act 2013. And, notification for land acquisition would be issued on May 14, Narayana said.
