Anantapur: Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy on Monday decried the biased attitude being displayed by police against the activists of the opposition party. He called upon all democratic forces to condemn the arrest of YSRCP senior leaders like Gurunadh Reddy and Topudurthi Chandrasekhar Reddy on the charge of ransacking the Mandal Revenue Office on April 29. He stressed the need to fight the violence unleashed by the ruling party.

Speaking to reporters after meeting the two leaders, who were lodged in sub-jail at Anantapur, Jagan expressed his anguish over the ruling dispensation unleashing bloodshed. The violence broke out in the wake of the murder of YSRCP leader B Prasada Reddy at the MRO office on April 29 and the police had foisted false cases on the party leaders and 40 others, he said. He blamed the police for allowing those who murdered Prasada Reddy to escape.

He accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of “plotting the murders against YSRCP leaders. That Prasada Reddy was murdered in a government office was evident of the hidden hand of the ruling party.” He recalled that Single Window Chairman Vijayabhaskar was killed much in the same way.

Earlier, Jagan Mohan Reddy got rousing welcome at Bagepally toll gate when he reached Anantapur for the Phase II of the Rythu Bharosa Yatra in the district. A large number of farmers and party leaders welcomed him when he reached Tamminayanapalli in Gorantla mandal.
