With the fuel prices hiked, members of Left parties staged protests demanding the Union government to cut back the fuel prices in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.

The CPM workers stated that the fuel price is a huge burden on the common man and organized a rally in Yellammathota to Jagadamba Junction raising slogans against the Union government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

CPM city secretary B. Ganga Rao said that PM Modi had promised to bring down the rise of the fuel prices but after coming to power, it has been opposite and the prices have been hiked twice within two weeks. Demanding the Centre to withdraw the hike in fuel prices the CPM workers went ahead trying to burn a giant effigy of the Centre when the police intervened and took the activists into custody.

However, the CPM leaders condemned the arrest and took to streets again, staging protests at the RTC complex Junction which in turn affected the flow of traffic.
