Hyderabad: Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Rajvardhan Singh Rathore said that the Centre was ready to hold talks jointly with the Chief Minister’s of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to resolve all contentious issues that have been bothering both the Telugu speaking states but it appears that both the chief ministers have ‘ego problems.’

The minister made this comment during an informal chat with reporters here on Thursday. Replying to a question on why Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not intervening to resolve certain controversial issues between the two states, Rajvardhan said the Prime Minister was always ready to sit across the table and discuss issues of conflict with the chief ministers, but it seems they are not ready to do so.

When asked what kind of financial help the new state of Telangana could expect from the Central government, the Union minister said that depends on the initiatives taken by the state government. The onus to get maximum benefit from the Centre lies on the states’. Telangana is no different for us. Whenever the Chief Minister sought help, the Centre extend it without hesitation, he added.

Referring to one year of NDA government, Rathore said his ministry has decided to allow FM channels to broadcast the same news as aired by the All India Radio (AIR). Asked about the Supreme Court’s recent directive not to use the photographs of political leaders in government advertisements with the only exception being the Prime Minister, the Union minister said the Centre is not in favour of any restriction on using chief ministers’ photos in government advertisements.
