Elected unanimously facing no opposition, N Chandrababu Naidu has become the Telugu Desam Party’s first National President after the party’s transformation into a National party. On the last day of the three day conclave of TDP Mahanadu, Chandrababu was elected for the post of the President of the National committee.


TDP leaders filed 30 sets of nominations on behalf of the AP Chief Minister and the party has gained recognition as a national party. The political resolution announced TDP’s transformation as a national party; the minimum requirement for a regional party to become a national party is to have the presence of the party in four states.


Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister Y Ramakrishnudu who moved the resolution said that TDP has presence in AP, Telangana and will expand to other states – Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar.
