Hyderabad: Colorado Fine Arts Association (CFAA) will be conducting the first North American Kuchipudi Nrithyotsav at Denver, Colorado, USA on August 14, 2016. Addressing mediapersons, here on Thursday, CFAA board member Haricharan P Reddy said that since the classical culture was losing momentum, they have realised the need to preserve long established classical arts, which reflect the exemplary standards of India’s rich heritage.
Classical art forms are an intimate integration of thousands of years of history, poetry, music, bhava and rasa, which cannot be simplified in order to be convenient for popular comprehension without damaging their integrity, he said. Under these circumstances, the CFAA took the initiative to organise the first North American Kuchipudi Nrithyotsav, with emphasis on standard and quality of performance, with commitment and dedication and also to support and encourage interest in the Indian classical arts by the North American youth.
“We invite the best students and young performers in North America to come and perform in Denver. Besides, we invite teachers, who are indispensable to the future of Kuchipudi, to participate and bless the students,” he said. Padma Bhushan Radha-Raja Reddy and Vempati Ravi Shankar will be judges to evaluate performance of the dancers.
The successful dancers will be conferred with a dance title. Vempati Ravi Shankar will be choreographing the inaugural performance and lecture demonstrations by Raja-Radha Reddy and Vempati Ravi Shankar. The details about application will be available from August 15 at http://coloradofinearts.org and the deadline for submission of application forms is January 31, 2016. For more information, visit http://coloradofinearts.org, he added.
