Hyderabad: The false promises made by the AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on loan waiver led to the spate of farmers’ suicides in the State, the YSR Congress party said on Friday. It said the TDP government had been fudging with the figures on loan waiver.

Addressing the media here, party senior leader Ummareddy Venkateswarlu said two farmers had died at Paruchuru and Uravakonda as they were deceived following the false promise made by Naidu that all agriculture loans would be waived after TDP comes to power.

“The Chief Minister did not honour his word and farmers. About 94 per cent who depend on bank loans, were now being driven to suicides or indebtedness,” he alleged. The YSRCP leader said the total loan amount of Rs 87,612 crore mentioned in the 184th State Level Bankers’ Conference (SLBC) has now increased to Rs 95, 975 crore which shows that the TDP government did not bother to honour its word.
