In a major shock to the YSR Congress Party in Kurnool, TDP leader Silpa Chakrapani Reddy defeated YSRCP candidate Venkateswara Reddy with a margin of 146 votes in the MLC elections under local body quota.


The YSRCP has a stronghold in Kurnool district and won 11 MLA seats in the general elections.


In Prakasam district too, the TDP displayed its strength and won Prakasam MLC election.


TDP leader Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy won with a margin of 711 votes against YSRCP's nominee Chinna Venkata Reddy. Out of 755 votes polled, Magunta secured 724 votes, while Venkata Reddy got 13 votes and 17 votes were said to be invalid.
