New Delhi: K Veera Raghava Reddy, president, Andhra Association of Telangana, filed a petition with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) here on Monday pleading for the "rescue of the Governor, E S L Narasimhan, who is under a forced confinement of the Telangana State government.”

His argument was that the Governor for two Telugu States under Section 8 of the AP State Reorganisation Act, 2014, but had been under a forced confinement of the Telangana State government and hence unable to act on his own despite the powers conferred on him by the Act and render justice to Andhra people in Hyderabad in particular, and Telangana in general.

He said the Telangana State government was indirectly creating a feeling of insecurity amongst the non-Telanganites. It had also halted the transmission of TV9 and ABN Andhrajyothi channels and disowned the financial responsibility of the SC students of Andhra origin. The act of relieving 1,253 employees of the Electricity Department was also an illegal Act, the petitioner said. Several complaints had been lodged in this regard with the Governor in the past but there was no response from him.
