Hyderabad: Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao has alleged that Rajahmundry stampede, in which 27 people died on Tuesday, occurred because of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s greed to grab the whole credit of conducting Godavari Pushkaralu-2015.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Hanumantha Rao alleged that power-hungry and wily Chandrababu Naidu deposed his father-in-law and former chief minister N T Rama Rao in a bloodless coup. “The gory sins of Chandrababu Naidu would not be cleaned even if he erected innumerable statues of NTR,” he said.

Hanumantha Rao opined that Chandrababu Naidu should have assigned the responsibilities to officials of departments concerned only. “But Chandrababu wanted to take the entire credit for organising Pushkaram festivities single-handed,” he alleged. Hanumantha Rao also demanded that Naidu announce Rs 50 lakh ex gratia each to the kin of the deceased and Rs 5 lakh each to the injured devotees. Earlier, VH had a holy dip in Rajahmundry VIP Pushkar Ghat.
