The Andhra Pradesh State\'s new capital, Amaravathi will be getting 24 hour continuous power supply that was confirmed by the AP Transco Chief Engineer (Constructions) J Devanand who said that a new power system is to be set up sprawled over 16.9 square km with high voltage sub-stations and EHT lines.

The Andhra Pradesh State's new capital, Amaravathi will be getting 24 hour continuous power supply that was confirmed by the AP Transco Chief Engineer (Constructions) J Devanand who said that a new power system is to be set up sprawled over 16.9 square km with high voltage sub-stations and EHT lines.


The works are set to begin from October 22 with about Rs. 1,000 crore if the Singapore government submits seed capital master plan. Mr Devanand inspected areas selected for constructing sub-stations and said that the proposals were made for constructing eight sub-stations that were gas-insulated (GIS). He also said that underground cables will be laid in the entire area at the cost of Rs 20 crores per each kilometre.


With the construction of eighth unit of NTPS in Vijayawada, 800 mw additional power could be generated - power grid lines will be taken with 500 mw power from this unit and another 500 mw from Srisailam and Vemagiri. The estimated expenditure for the project is around Rs 250 crores and proposals are being set up of multi-circuit towers to lay four lines with 50 m gap within corridor limits.
