Stating that the weavers are facing a lot of trouble and committing suicides, the YSR Congress has demanded the TDP government to without any delay clear all their loans.

The YSR party SC Cell chief M Nagarjuna speaking to the media said that many incentives were promised by TDP in its manifesto including Thrift Fund, rebate on electricity to power looms, modernizations of tools and special package to the children of the weavers but none were implemented after coming to power. He demanded that on the Weavers’ Day today, all loans of weavers should be waived immediately.

He also stated that the Neta Bazar scheme promised by TDP did not see the light of the day while the Janata Cloth scheme was shelved directly affecting the weavers.

Mr Nagarjuna said that the weavers have been neglected by consecutive governments and only YSR Congress has waived RS 312 crores of loans of weavers. Standing at Rs 1,000 crores, the weavers’ loans should be waived to save the community as they do not have any other source of income.
