The Delhi police stopped YSR Congress Party chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's protest towards Parliament on Monday. YS Jagan and his supporters were stopped from marching to Parliament and have been taken into preventive custody.

The YSRCP chief along with thousands of party activists staged a dharna to demand special category status for Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to the media before the police detained him, the YSRCP chief said "Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi spoke on the special status issue for a day in AP and his party did not raise the issue in Parliament in the last one year," he said.

He further said that now the question is the credibility of the parliament and the Special status promise was made on the floors of Parliament by BJP and Congress, he added.

Protesting against the arrest, YS Jagan staged a sit-in before the Parliament street police station.

Later, he was forcibly evicted from there and shifted to the police station.
