Hyderabad: The YSRCP in a move to embarass the government on Saturday released a letter written by the Centre to its party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy that the issue of according special category status to AP did not arise. Jagan some time back has written a letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of special status.

In reply to it, the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, had replied that the AP does not fulfill the criteria for getting special status or incentives. Releasing the letter, YSRCP Rajampet MP P Mithun Reddy said the Centre has made it clear that AP could not be distinguished by any of the criteria laid down by the then Planning Commission to accord special status to any State.

Hence, now no special package of industrial incentive could be considered to the State. However, the Deputy Secretary to Government of India (GoI) from Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry Ashish Dutta in his reply stated that State is likely to be benefited under the Central Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme that allows financial support for improving the quality of infrastructure in the industrial clusters.
