Machilipatnam: The leader of Opposition and YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, came down heavily on the State government for not extending financial support to the bereaved families of viral fever victims in Kothamajeru village.

He held a protest at the Collectorate here on Tuesday against the failure of the government to provide health care to people and financial assistance to the victims.
Jagan said the government had totally ignored the issue even as people one after the other was succumbing to the viral fever in Kothamajeru village.
Stating that 18 persons have died over two months, he blamed the government for not visiting the village. He said that the Health Minister Dr Kamineni Srinivas had visited the village only after he visited and consoled the families.

He criticised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for not providing financial assistance to the victims and improving the health care in the village. The primary health center in the village was not equipped with the required medicines even after the death of 18 persons in the village, he added. Jagan also flayed the government for not cleaning the village water tank from where the virus had spread killing 18 persons.
