Amaravati: Assembly Speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao is learnt to have decided to hold the next session of the Assembly here in the makeshift halls.

Impressed with the positive atmosphere built around the impending foundation ceremony for the capital, the Speaker felt the need to hold the winter session here to ‘create positive impression among the people’ on the government.

The government has already identified Tallayapalem and Uddandarayapalem villages as core capital that would have all the government offices, including the Assembly in the new capital.

Bhoomi Pooja was held on June 6 at Tallayapalem while the foundation ceremony will be held at Uddandarayapalem on October 22. A stretch of over 3,000 acres of land is identified for the core capital between these two villages along the River Krishna.

Keeping in view the foundation ceremony and the involvement of people in the event, the Speaker had proposed to use the foundation ceremony venue for the winter session of the Assembly.

As the ground is being levelled now, the Speaker wants to put up makeshift halls and temporary seating arrangements for the Assembly to meet.

The makeshift halls would also have temporary accommodation for the Assembly secretariat, senior officials required to supply information to the Assembly and the security personnel.
