Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government proposes to hold winter and Budget session of the State Assembly in Tulluru in the capital region of Amaravati.

The proposal was cleared by all the political parties which attended the all-party meeting convened by the Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao here on Friday.

Speaker Siva Prasada Rao, speaking to media persons, said that the all parties, including the major opposition YSRCP agreed to the proposal to hold the winter session of the State Assembly in temporary buildings in the capital region.

The Speaker said construction of the temporary Assembly building would begin from November 1 and would be completed by December. Efforts are being made to provide all possible facilities, including the chamber for the Leader of the House,

chamber for the Leader of Opposition and rooms for floor leaders. Since people wanted that the Assembly sessions should be held in the state, this decision was taken, he said.

Members, cutting across the party lines, agreed that the peoples’ wish should be honoured.Replying to a question,

the Speaker said this arrangement would purely be a temporary one. The structures cannot remain there beyond a certain period as the construction of new capital city would begin as per the new master plan.

Holding the session in the state is not an easy task since necessary arrangements for transport, accommodation and food for about 1000 people which would include the members of the Assembly and the Council, officials and the staff of the Assembly secretariat would have to be made.

An estimation of the cost involved in creating the temporary assembly building was in process and it would be presented before the opposition parties. Once they approve it then expression of interest would be called for.

The meeting to finalise the construction costs would be held after the foundation stone ceremony on October 22. State Legislative Council Chairman Dr A Chakrapani, Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad,

Chief Whip Kalva Srinivasulu, Whip Meda Chandrasekhar Reddy, YSRCP leader Umareddy Venkateswarlu, Left Party members PJ Chandrasekhar Rao, Balasubrahmanyam. Rajya Sabha Member Garikapati Mohana Rao took part in the meeting.
