3 TN-based sanders smugglers held . Three red sanders operatives from Vellore district of Tamil Nadu were arrested in the raids conducted by Chittoor II Town and Gudipala police, separately, on October 17.

Addressing media here on Sunday, O S D Ratna, Additional SP, said that, the three smugglers were identified as Muthu (40) of Jakkanahalli, Muthu Surya (18), Selvakumar Sundaram Murthy (29) both from Kaniyambadi, Vellore district of Tamil Nadu.
They were in smuggling business along with smugglers in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh since 2013 and were transporting smuggled red sanders logs from the district to TN. Muthu, an illiterate and farmer, while Muthu Surya and Selvakumar, were school dropouts and latter was working as a mestry.
Police seized 22 red sander logs and three vehicles including a Quails van, Tata Safari and a motor cycle – all worth about Rs 25 lakh from them. Task Force DSP V V Giridhar, Chittoor DSP Lakshmi Naidu and others were present.
