Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government on Friday increased liquor prices by 5 to 10 per cent on beer, IMFL, wine and ready-to-drink varieties with immediate effect and expected to garner Rs 150 to Rs 200 crore per month.

State Excise and Prohibition Minister K Ravindra said that according to the decision taken in the recent Cabinet meeting, excise duty, VAT and countervailing duty on all liquor varieties were increased slightly. Beer prices will be increased between Rs 2 to Rs 5 depending on the brands available in the market.
The IMFL liquor prices on each bottle consisting 750 ml will be increased by Rs 30 to Rs 50 for various brands.The Minister said Rs 5 additional excise duty will be collected on each case cost up to Rs 200, Rs 9 for each case ( 12 bottles containing 750 ml each) costing between Rs 200 and Rs 250.
The cost of the case above Rs 250 and up to Rs 350, the excise duty Rs 11 will be levied additionally.The additional excise duty will be 5 per cent per case on all ranges of wine available in the market.
The official said that with the increase of taxes, government will get Rs 150 to Rs 200 crore additional revenue per month. State government plans to generate Rs 14,000 crore revenue from liquor sales for 2015-16 financial year.
