The Government had earlier passed orders to take action against those not wearing helmets from November 1.

Following complaints by several passengers that the police were harassing them, the Government has decided to put it on hold.

Announcing the decision, Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao said that a date will be announced soon.

The transport minister asked his department to create awareness among the passengers and the public before making wearing of helmet compulsory.
