Hyderabad: Land acquisation process for laying the much-awaited Nadikudi-Srikalahasti new railway line is coming to a close. The advance possession of land acquired in Guntur district will be handed over to the railway authorities by December 15.

Informing this to Chief Secretary I Y R Krishna Rao, Guntur Joint Collector Dr C Sreedhar said at a review meeting on Friday that an extent of 688 acres falling under 14 villages has been acquired for the project. As there is no issue of afforestation in Guntur district, the land would be handed over, he said.

Similarly, alienation fixation is completed in Prakasam district and in Nellore a joint survey for 2,900 acres has been completed and patta land survey is pending, said the District Collectors of Prakasam and Nellore districts.

The Chief Secretary directed the Collector of Nellore to complete the survey works within a month. Krishna Rao also discussed the National Highway Project between Nagarjunasagar and Erpedu, and said that as the road way is connected through Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts, the district collectors have to co-ordinate with National Highway Authority of India and departments concerned, to ensure early completion of the project.

The Chief Secretary also suggested that the Transport, Roads and Buildings officials nominate a Nodal Officer to monitor the national highway road project.
