One dies, two suffer injuries in a pipeline blast

Kakinada: A worker died and two employees of the Coramandal Fertilizer unit suffered burn injuries when a steam pipeline exploded due to high pressure while conducting a pressure test here on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as E Lova Raju (27), a daily wage labourer. The injured, who sustained burns, are identified as Shaik Ghouse Mohiuddin (28) and G Bangarraju (38), and are being treated at local Apollo Hospital.

Deputy Chief Minister (Home) N Chinarajappa, who left to Vishkapatnam, rushed back and visited the fertilizer unit. He also visited the family members of the deceased and consoled them. Later, he also paid a visit to hospital to enquire about the incident from the injured workers.

Speaking to press persons, he said that he had already directed the police to book cases against plant manager and HR manager of fertilizer unit, under IPC 307, for paying scant attention to safetynorms. He also instructed the company management to pay better compensation to both deceased family and to injured workers.
