Vishakhapatnam: Realising that it would be tough to proceed with the bauxite mining in the wake of serious opposition from the tribals, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is trying to woo former minister Konathala Ramakrishna into the party fold which was kept in abeyance for months.
Ramakrishna, who has strong base in his hometown Anakapalle and surrounding rural areas, has also good relationship tribals, particularly where the mining is proposed. The victory of YSRCP leaders in Paderu and Araku Valley Giddi Eswari and Kidari Sarsveswara Rao gave strength to Ramakrishna. ``Chandrababu Naidu wants to win over the tribals and the two MLAs by using the services of Ramakrishna to take forward his bauxite mining agenda,” said a local TDP leader who also welcomed him into the party fold.
His earlier entry initiated by Minister for Panchayat Raj Ch Ayyanna Patrudu was strongly opposed by his arch rival Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Anakapalle MP M Srinivasa Rao. This also led to a rift between the two Ministers, so the CM sensing trouble in the party district unit, kept Konathala’s entry in abeyance.
Party sources said Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao also told the Anakapalle MLA Peela Govind Satyanarayana to gather local MLAs against the entry of Konathala. But the leaders have realised the determination of the Chief Minister to go ahead with the mining and may keep silent if Ramakrishna was taken into the party. Even, Ramakrishna recently hinted to the media, that his entry into TDP was being discussed afresh.
