Krishna dist administration ready for SSC exams

Vijayawada: With the Class X public examinations scheduled to be held from March 12 to April 7, the Krishna district education department is making all arrangements to ensure 100 per cent pass besides 10 out of 10 GPA this year. The teachers are asked to complete the syllabus by the end of December. Daily tests, a usual feature of corproate schools is likely to be implemented for students studying in government high schools.

The Krishna district has the history of winning top 3 or top 5 positions in the State (both united and divided) in the public examinations. With girls scoring good in various subjects and showing impressive overall percentage, the city is set to retain the credit of being ‘City for education’. Though there were also instances wherein a few candidates couldn’t pass all the subjects that they appeared for.

While the daily dose of study hours is already being practiced before and after the school hours, the teachers are given a deadline to complete the respective syllabus by December-end. There shall be additional revision of the completed syllabus during the study hours which run for two hours per day. The study hours will continue till December 27.

Adding to the existing practices, the in-charge DEO, A Subba Reddy, asked the concerned staff to ensure that they plan daily tests for the students from January 2. The idea is to organise tests for the students on a regular basis. The entire syllabus is divided in sectors and tests will be held during the study hour or the school hours such that the assessment would be given out by the end of the day. Proposals were under preparation to implement this system to enable children perform better in final examinations.

Former district Common Examination Board secretary, District Science Officer Potluri Murali speaking to ‘The Hans India’ said that the practice would be good for students who were very conscious about performing well at the examinations. “Many of them are scared of the anxiety that they face during examination. With these daily tests, students will gain confidence in time management, presentation and will learn their flaws. Teachers also can get hold on the individual capacity of the students so that they can brush up their minuses.

There are a total of 430 high schools and 1,000 recognised private schools in the district from which students will appear for the SSC Examinations 2016,” he said.
