5 ration shop dealers in Anantapur suspended

Anantapur: Five dealers of ration shops in Anantapur have been suspended for their failure to distribute essential commodities to the poor following an inquiry conducted by the tahsildars at the instance of the District Collector.

The dealers faced charges of resorting to corrupt practices, while failing to distribute the PDS kerosene to the needy, an official release said on Sunday.

The deputy tahsildar (Civil Supplies) working in the office of Anantapur Tahsildar has also been suspended for dereliction of duty. The Anantapur tahsildar has been transferred to Gudibanda. The administrative officer in Anantapur Revenue Divisional Office will hold the additional charge of Anantapur tahsildar, according to orders issued by the Collector.
