Kurnool: Kala Jathas will take up a campaign in the State from December 1 under Saakshar Bharat Mission to eradicate illiteracy.

Speaking at the valedictory of a State-level two-day training camp for members of Kala Jathas here on Saturday, Deputy Director of Adult Education YN Jayaprada urged them to strive for eradication of illiteracy through their cultural performances. Kala Jathas are effective means to spread awareness among illiterates and motivate them to learn reading and writing.

Hence, artistes were roped in for the success of the adult education campaign, she said. The programme in-charge and assistant project officer of adult education, Anantapur, GV Ramana, resource persons Mohammad Miyan and Inayatullah and artistes from various districts were present.
