A major boat capsize was averted in fluke in the Bay of Bengal at Donkuru village in Itchapuram mandal on Sunday. According sources fishermen of Donkuru village were going into sea on their four engine boats for fish hunt when suddenly one of the boat was capsized in the sea water.

In all, 11 fishermen who were in the boat at that time noticed the danger and shifted onto the other three boats immediately. “We are saved luckily as we sensed the trouble when our boat was tilted.
However, we lost our boat and nets worth Rs 10 lakh,” said the survived fishermen, B Kuberudu, B Gopal, B Gurumurthy and others. On receiving information, police and revenue officials were rushed to spot and advised fishermen not venture into sea till December 2 as national weather forecasting centre issued cyclone warnings.
