The two- judge PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising of Acting Chief Justice Dilip Bhosale and Justice S V Bhatt on Monday directed the concerned officer of AP government to be present in court in connection with the response of the government to the incidents of farmer suicides in the state.

Hyderabad: The two- judge PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising of Acting Chief Justice Dilip Bhosale and Justice S V Bhatt on Monday directed the concerned officer of AP government to be present in court in connection with the response of the government to the incidents of farmer suicides in the state.

The bench is hearing writ pleas filed by Pakala Sri Hari and others complaining of failure by the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments to evolve suitable packages to prevent farmers suicides in both States. In another independent writ petition filed by Vyavasya Jana Chaitanya Samithi the petitioner sought directions to implement the National Commission on Farmers report given by M S Swaminathan,

Chairman for the National Commission on Farmers to prevent farmers’ suicides by both governments earlier called upon to respond to the writ petitions. The court faulted the AP government for its poor response in the matter and directed the Chief Secretary to be present in the court.
