Srisailam Project: Inaugurating a training programme on ‘Handling tranquilisation equipment’ organised by the Nagarjunsagar-Srisailam Forest Reserve, IFS officer Sarnavan threw light on important steps to be taken while rescuing animals.

Speaking on ‘DNA and wildlife’ Dr Ajay stated that DNA finger printing would be of immense use in identifying an animal. Several veterinary doctors and Navin of Nehru Zoological Park explained the steps, including precautions, to be taken for rescuing animals. The personnel involved in the exercise should be completely prepared for the task well in advance.

They should prepare a checklist, he stated, while giving a live demonstration on tranquilisation. The DFOs of Atmakur, Dornala, Atmakur Flying Squad, Sub-DFOs of Srisailam, Dornala and Kadapa attended the programme as special guests. Fifty staffers of the forest divisions of Atmakur, Markapur, Kadapa, Kurnool, Giddalur and Proddatur participated in the programme.
