AIIMS will be made world-class institute

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has promised to develop the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Mangalagiri as a world class institute. “It would virtually be an international hospital and next to AIIMS – New Delhi, Mangalagiri would be occupying a prominent place,” he asserted.

The Chief Minister participated in the foundation laying ceremony of AIMS at the TB Sanatorium premises here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, Naidu assured that the infrastructure for the hospital would be completed in three years apart from promising that he would make efforts to ensure that the buildings are completed even before. “The hospital, which would be built with funds of Rs 1,618 crore will pave a way for the region to be developed as a medical hub, as several health institutes of repute making a beeline,” he added.
Naidu said that steps would be taken to start classes of the medical college from next academic year, with the help of GGH in Guntur or GGH in Vijayawada. He thanked the Union Health Minister for sanctioning two cancer hospitals for the State. “All government hospitals in the State will be developed on PPP mode involving private partners for extending clinical test services. We will undertake repair works of all defunct equipment lying unused in government hospitals,” the CM added.

Commenting on privatisation of services in government hospitals, the Chief Minister asserted that radical measures would be taken to infuse new life, dynamism in staff, apart from giving facelift to the hospitals. “The government hospitals are in a precarious shape. Amenities will be improved and measures for prevention of viruses among the general populace would be taken,” he assured.
Naidu praised Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu for going out of the way to help the State as a ‘Telugu Man’, despite his being an MP from Karnataka. He praised the initiatives of Venkaiah Naidu in extracting more benefits from the Centre to the state, than the ones promised in the AP State Reorganisation act. He also thanked Venkaiah for clearing all the decks for the Polavaram project.
The Chief Minister came down heavily on the opposition party and dubbed their behaviour in Assemble as irresponsible. He lambasted Jagan Mohan Reddy for his attempts to defame the brand name of Amaravati. Commenting on the Call Money Racket, CM said that he directed the Vijayawada Commissioner as well as the DGP to take swift and stern action on those involved in the racket.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister M Venkaiah Naidu read out a long list of schemes sanctioned for the State. These include; a 500 bed super speciality hospital in Visakahapatnam, a Tribal University in Vizianagaram, a Petroleum University in Rajahmundry, a Central University in Anantapur, multiple defense projects for Anantapur, Kurnool and Krishna districts apart from Metro Rail projects for Vizag and Vijayawada.

Dr Sadasiva Rao and his family donated Rs 2 crore building a block in memory of their parents. Dr Chigurupati Krishna Prasad also donated Rs 2 crores on behalf of his family and doctors Ramesh and Suresh also donated for the hospital development.
The Chief Minister felicitated renowned doctors Dr Soma Raju - a heart surgeon, Dr Guruva Reddy - orthopaedic, Dr Gopichand - paediatrician and several NRI doctors including Dr Chandramouli, Dr Nageshwara Rao and Dr M Appa Rao. Medical students, doctors, MLAs MPs and other government officials also attended.
