Visakhapatnam: Progressive Democratic Front (PDF) MLCs in Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Council have given a notice to move a privilege motion against Human Resources Development Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Friday.
MLCs MVS Sarma, Boddu Nageswara Rao and Geyanand issued the notice to the Chairman of the Council.
The notice has come against the back drop of the minister, who is also holding the portfolio of libraries making a statement in the council that he had no business interest in Pratyusha Company, which had taken over about Rs 100 crore worth lands belonging to isakhapatnam
District Libraries Association. The lands are reportedly costing about Rs 400 crore at the current market price, and they were taken during the Congress regime for development under PPP mode by the company.
The minister had also reportedly stated in the council that the lands belonging to the Libraries Association would be resorted to the association, and properly developed.
But, the PDF has reportedly obtained the details under RTI which indicates that the minister had 26 per cent of share in Pratyusha Company, and so far no action has been taken to restore the lands to the association.
It was against this back drop that the PDF MLCs have found fault with the minister for making statements misleading the council. Hence, a notice is given to the Chairman to move a privilege motion against Ganta for misleading the House.
