Devotees throng temples to celebrate Vaikuntha Ekadasi

The Vaishnava and other temples in Srisailam, Mahanandi, Yaganti, Sangameswaram and Venkateswara temple in Atmakur were teeming with devotees to celebrate the Vaikuntha Ekadasi or Mukkoti Ekadasi on Monday. Devotees believe that the Lord’s darshan through the temple’s northern door will secure them salvation. Hence the heavy rush in the temples. It is also believed that even Gods also have darshan through the same door. In Srisailam, devotees made a beeline since early morning; but they were disappointed as darshan was delayed by three hours. They had to wait in queues because of the laxity of the temple officials

However, in the case of temples in Mahanandi, Yaganti, Ahobhilam, Bogeswaram, Omkaram there was normalcy. In Venkateswara Temple and Ramalayam in Sanjeevanagar, Nandyal, Vaikuntha Ekadasi was celebrated under the auspices of Sri Bhagavath Seva Samaj. Nandyal DSP Harinath Reddy made bundobast arrangements with the help of Two Town CI Ramaiah Naidu. In Saptapadi Sangameswaram and Bhu Varaha Sahita Padmavati Sametha Venkateswara Devasthanam special poojas were conducted by Telakapalli Raghurama Sarma and Vishnuvardhana Acharyulu to mark the day. In Sangameswaram devotees had bath in the river.
