3 bludgeoned to death

Korukonda (East Godavari): In a startling incident, three people were bludgeoned to death in Korukonda in East Godavari district on Thursday. While one died on the spot, two others succumbed to injuries in the hospital. According to police, the accused Yedida Anand Kumar was embroiled in a heated verbal exchange with his sister-in-law, Vijaya Lakshmi (42) in Ramarao Peta near RTC complex. The war of words intensified and the two resorted to brawl. Meanwhile, Geddam Nagabhushanam (45) owner of a photo frame shop came to rescue of Vijaya Lakshmi.

However, Ananda Kumar hit them with an iron rod. Vijaya Lakshmi and the woman died on the spot and Nagabhushanam sustained severe head injury. When Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency member (MPTC) Khandavalli Kumari (43) tried to nab of the accused, when Anand Kumar was fleeing from the scene crime, she too was hit with an iron rod.

While Nagabhushanam died on the way to Government Hospital, Rajahmundry, Kumari died in the hospital. Meanwhile things took an interesting turn as police claiming that the accused was still at large, despite eye witnesses stating that he was caught within 500 metres from the scene of crime.
